with a total of 19 players turning up for this game. Bandon got off to a bad
start with an easy goal scored from a corner on 4 mins. Bandon settled soon
enough and Thomas Mc Carthy was unlucky with his effort hitting the crossbar. On
20 mins Bandon equalised through Michael Mc Sweeney and were playing better
stuff so it was 1-1 at half time, 10 mins into the 2nd half Bandon took the lead
with Roland Korom scoring, David O Neill got Bandons 3rd and Pa O Brien capped a
man of the match performance with a super goal so final score 4-1 to Bandon

April 14th Bandon V Ringmahon Cup Match
If you were lucky enough to be at the town park for
this game you were not disappointed as it was a truly superb match. Bandon had
played Ringmahon in the league and were hammered 9-1 with the ref blowing early
to save embarasment, but the ref earned his money here. The match started
with Bandon attacking from the start and were 1 up after 15 mins with Jack O
Toole scoring a cracker, Ringmahon pulled 1 back before the break and Bandon
were back on top through a brave header from Shane Barry, again Bandon slipped
up and left a Ringmahon player run past 5 players and score. At full time it was
2-2 so extra time was called for again sloppy play in midfield left Ringmahon in
to make it 3-2, in the 2nd period of extra time Oisin Twomey produced a beauty
of a shot to beat the keeper from 40 yards to wild celebrations on the line and
the hill. So all square after extra time so the dreaded penalties to decide who
goes through. Ringmahon went 1st and successful, next up stepped Pa O Brien who
scored, Ringmahon scored their 2nd and Jack O Toole scored, Ringmahon got their
3rd and Oisin Twomey was denied by a brilliant save from their keeper who got
his fingers to push the ball against the upright. Ringmahon scored their 4th and
John O Donovan scored his to keep us in it, all pressure on the 5th kick for
Ringmahon but he slotted it home to send Ringmahon through. It was a fantastic
performance from both teams and they got a great round of applause as they left
the pitch. It was a hard blow for Bandon but they can take pride in the way they
played and never gave up.
April 13th Bandon V Corinthians League
Match
Bandon started well in this game and had
Corinthians pegged back in their own half for all the first half, Michael Mc
Sweeney should have scored but he was deliberately taken down by the keeper who
should have beeen sent off, Bandon failed to take any of their chances and were
punished by Corinthians who scored after Bandon gave the ball away easy on the
left. The final score was 0-1 but Bandon were heartened by their performance
against a team who beat them 8-0 at the start of the season, so things are
heading in the right direction.
5th April Bandon V Wilton Cup
Bandon played Wilton
in the cup and they were really up for it, this was a team who beat them 5-2 in
the league so it was time for revenge, Bandon started well and were well on top
when Mussa Moxahmed scored, they pushed Wilton very hard and scored a 2 through
Shane Barry, Wilton pulled 1 back but had enough to hold to a valuable win.

BANDON 1 LEEDS 1
SUN 10TH FEB Bandon played away to Leeds on sunday 10th in the
premier league. The game was a very tightly contested affair with both teams
playing great football, the sides were all square at the interval and Bandon
came out with all guns blazing in the 2nd half and had about 4 corners in quick
succession, on 1 of these a Leeds player handled in the box and we were awarded
a penalty with Mussa Moxahmed stepping up to take it, he scored only for the ref
to disallow as players infringed into the box so he retook it and cool as a
breeze scored to estatic celebrations on the line. Bandon continued to push
forward with Leeds allways dangerous on the break. With 3 mins to go Bandon got
a corner but the ball was cleared and Leeds took full advantage to run the pitch
and equalise. That was the final score, It was a bad blow to the lads but the
performance was a credit to the lads as they had got a lot of grief over last
weeks performance and really responded. Team; A, Moynihan, S. Barry, D.
Mulligan, P. O Brien, J. O Donovan, M. Moxahmed, N. Murray, D. O Donovan, G.

BANDON 2 WILTON UTD 5
SUN 3RD FEB
Bandon played away to Wilton on sunday in very wet conditions, Bandon started awful, allowing Wilton to score 2 easy goals after 4 mins, after 15 mins they conceded a 3rd. For the remainder of the first half they played better and held it to 3-0 at half time. They conceded another soft goal just after 2 mins of the restart but started playing better and moving the ball around which payed off with Thomas Mc Carthy scioring from an Andy o Connell cross, Bandon got their 2nd through some neat play from Lee Holland & Greg Murphy with Murphy netting on his debut, again Bandon fell asleep and let Wilton in to score their 5th which was the final result. Bandon could have conceded a lot more only for great performances from Marshall Kingston & Anthony Moynihan. A lot of players did not put in the effort and at this level you will be punished if you do not give 100%. BANDON 3 CORINTHIANS A 2
SUN 27TH JAN
Bandon U12s recorded their first league win in the premier league on sunday, the team started well with Mussa Moxahmed scoring after 10 mins, Corinthians fought back well and were always dangerous on the counter attack. They got their equaliser through some fine play with Dan O Mahony scoring first and Max van Hastract adding a 2nd before half time. Bandon got off to a great start in the 2nd half with Thomas Mc Carthy battling well up front by himself, he got the ball at the half way line and burned the 2 backs and scored to great celebrations on the Bandon line. The winning goal came from an Andy O Connell corner with Corinthians heading in to their own net. Corinthians pushed forward trying for an equaliser but Bandon held firm and were unlucky to not get a 4th goal due to some bad reffing as Mc Carthy got the ball in his own half headed for goal, the defender brought him down in the box and the ref gave a free out to the amazement of everyone present including Corinthians management. Some great performances from the backs especially O Brien and Moynihan in goal. So a great win for Bandon richly deserved for all the hard work in training all year and hopefully they will play with the belief that they are as good as any team in the league. Team: Anthony Moynihan, Shane barry, Marshall Kingston, Pa O Brien, John O Donovan, Jack O Toole, David Mulligan, Andy O Connell, Mussa Moxahmed, Niall Murray, Thomas Mc Carthy, subs; Don O Sullivan, David O Neill, Lee Holland
BANDON 1 WILTON UTD 1
Sun 4th Nov
Bandon U-12 played Wilton Utd. in the league on Sunday 4th and it turned out to be a very entertaining game. Bandon started well and Thomas Mc Carthy had a shot saved on 2 mins, Bandon should have gone 1 up after 15 mins when Wilton keeper saved first from John O Donovan and the rebound from Jack O Toole. It was scoreless at half time, Wilton took the lead 2 mins after the break from sloppy defending but great fighting spirit from Bandon forced a corner 4 mins later, from the resulting corner Wilton cleared the ball only as far as Shane Barry who unleashed a rocket of a shot to the top corner to make it 1-1, the rest of the game was very balanced with both sides attacking but both defences held firm to finish 1-1. This is the first point in the league and was just reward for the effort the players put in.
