Crookstown  0  5  Ladies
Sun 6/03/10

On Sunday last, Bandon Ladies travelled to Crookstown to take on the local side in a league game. Bandon needed to keep their league momentum going as things are tightening up at the top with Drinagh and Beara.
All the action was in the first half of this game as Bandon took to their task admirably. A mistake by the Crookstown keeper left Caroline Sugrue with an easy tap in for her first goal. Another ball played in by Aoife McCarthy caused problems in the Crookstown defence and Pamela Forde tapped in at the back post. The third was an excellent lob by Caroline Sugrue. Soon after Aoife McCarthy broke through and scored Bandon’s fourth. Just before the half time whistle Sugrue finished off her hat trick.
With no goals coming in the second half, the final score was 5 - 0 to Bandon.

Lyre Rovers  2  4  Bandon

Sun 31/1/10

Bandon travelled away to Lyre on Sunday last for this league game. After being knocked out of the cup on the previous weekend, it was important to get back to winning ways and keep their league ambitions on track. Bandon started well coming close through Anne Campbell and Aoife McCarthy. Bandon had a lot of the possession in the first half but found it hard to break down the Lyre defence who themselves were dangerous on the break. On the half hour mark, through some hard work by Donna Coughlan who in turn found Coleen Deasy. Her cross field ball found the busy McCarthy on the right wing. She crossed a great ball in for Sinead O’ Regan to break the deadlock. Their joy was short live though when in the 35th and 37th minutes, 2 long balls caught the Bandon defence cold and it was the home side that went in at the break 2-1 up. Bandon pressed on from the start of the second half and within five minutes won themselves a corner. It was taken quickly by Sarah Galvin who short passed to Deasy, Her cross caught the Lyre defence napping and O’ Regan scored again from close range. It was all Bandon now as they pressed on for a winner. In the 70th a speculative shot by Eimear O’ Sullivan from midfield found the back of the Lyre net. With 2 minutes to go Bandon got their fourth and O’ Regan finished off her hat trick after good work by Campbell and McCarthy. It finished 4-2 to the visitors.

Team: L O’ Donovan, A O’ Mahony, C Deasy, S Galvin, P Quinn, E O’ Sullivan, A Campbell, A McCarthy, D Coughlan, T Dullea, S O’ Regan.

Bandon 2  2  Dunmanway

Cup Rd 1, 2nd Leg
Sun 24/1/10

Bandon entered the second leg 3-0 down, a mountain to climb but the ladies were not going to give up. Bandon started well, moving the ball and making Dunmanway work hard. From a corner they got their reward when a after a goal mouth scramble, Caroline Sugrue got the important touch to put Bandon 1 up. Dunmanway fought back and after a great save from Laura O’ Donovan in the Bandon goal, the ball broke and was sent to the back of the net. Ten minutes from the half, Bandon broke from their defence sending a ball to Aoife McCarthy who sent a pass through the Dunmanway defence. The swift Sinead O’ Regan was quick to respond to take the ball on and slid it past the Dunmanway keeper. Bandon took their lead into the second half still in with a chance of a dramatic second leg victory. There was little between the sides for the first twenty minutes of the second half with both keepers being tested. Dunmanway sent a ball up the right wing and threaded it through to the Bandon penalty area. From there Dunmanway made no mistake and tied the fixture. There were several good exchanges between the sides but the game ended two a piece.

Best for Bandon: Roseanne Walsh, Patsy Quinn, Sinead O’ Regan

NOV. 29TH '09

BANDON  1  1  DUNMANWAY

On Sunday last, Nov. 29th, Bandon had a home game against Dunmanway Town. After a 5 week layoff due to unplayable pitches, both home and away, this was never going to be an easy assignment for the league leaders, with underfoot conditions very testing and overhead conditions very cold and blustery.

Dunmanway settled to their task quickest and found themselves a goal to the good after 7 minutes. Bandon settled after this and after 15 minutes came close through Patricia Quinn, after good work from Lynda Crowley and Anne Campbell. This was to be the trend for the rest of the 1st half with Bandon coming close but not succeeding. It was looking like one of those days when Bandon were awarded a penalty which the Dunmanway keeper saved with her leg from Lynda Crowley.

Bandon kept up the tempo in the 2nd half and came close again through Anne OMahony and Crowley. While pushing forward for the equaliser though Bandon left gaps in the back and should have been punished further on 2 other occasions.

The equaliser finally came with 8 minutes to go when some good work found Lynda Crowley on the edge of the box. She wrong footed the defenders and fired home an unstoppable shot.

Bandon could have robbed the victory in the end when some great work from Colleen Deasy down the left, her cross somehow eluded everyone in the box and Aoife McCarthy just shot wide at the far post.

TEAM: Laura ODonovan, Roseanne Walsh, Colleen Deasy, Anne OMahony, Lynda Crowley, Ciara Prendergast, Anne Campbell, Aoife McCarthy, Eleanor Lucey, Patricia Quinn, Donna Coughlan.

SUB: Caroline ODriscoll

The Ladies would like to thank the Senior mens team for their support on the day along with the rest of the supporters.

SEPT 13TH 09

Dunmanway 0 - 5 Bandon
Olivia Coomey 5min
Eimear Sullivan 35min
Sinead O' Regan 60min 80min
Colleen Deasy 74min

Bandon started well and the ball broke loose in midfield and Olivia Coomey let fly an unstoppable
strike into the top right hand corner.
The second goal was an awful mistake by the Dunmanway GK after a shot from Eimear Sullivan.
Bandon defended well to hold a 2-0 half time lead.
Bandon started the second half strong and Sinead O' Regan combined with Patricia in midfield
before the ball was crossed by Coomey and met with a
great header from O' Regan.
Full back Colleen Deasy scored a long range shot to make it 4-0 before O' Regan got her second
to finish the route.
Overall Bandon played well with Goalkeeper Laura doing very well.
Player of the match had to go to Olivia Coomey who was consistent throughout and provided
good quality in everything she did on the park.
