BANDON 0 2 MALLOW UTD.
Bandon hosted Mallow at the town
park on Saturday morning.
The game was in doubt from
early morning and after a delay in waiting for the pitch to
"defrost" and the substitute referee arriving a half hour later
than the planned kick off the match started at 11.15.
Mallow settled the
quicker during the early stages but for most of the first quarter the
game was played out in midfield. Any chances that were being created were from
Mallow and although they had some strong runners from midfield the bandon
defence coped admirably. Shane O'Neill used his pace on several occassions to
make many
covering tackles . The
bandon left back and David McSweeney worked really hard to cover
both their sides of the big pitch and Aaron Ryan was alive to
all attacks. After holding off most of what Mallow had to throw at them a
moment of individual skill from the Mallow midfielder scored with a beautiful
stike to top corner of the home sides net five minutes before the break. 1
to nil at half time .
Brian O' Connell replaced the hard
running David Laffan at half time and Lee Holland swapped places
with Eoin O Sullivan.
Bandon created thier best chance of
the game early in the second half. When the initial free kick was
cleared Lee Hollands strike from just inside the box was brilliantly
saved by the away sides goalkeeper.Dylan Galvin and Liam Chambers worked really
hard in the second half but Mallow doubled their lead mid way through the
second half with a crisp strike to the bottom right hand corner of Aaron Ryans
net. Bandon battled bravely to the end but to no avail. Timmy McCarthy put in a
very consistent display right through the game Eoin Nolans positional play kept
the away sides defence on their toes. David Behan showed real commitment
and strong tackling when he made his apperance in the second half and Kevin
Petterson adapted very well in his unfamiliar role on the left side of
midfield.
Kirean Walshe made his debut for
Bandon replacing David McSweeney in the second half Sam Shorten
again looked very lively when he came on to replace Eoin Nolan.

BANDON 1 1 WILTON UTD.
Bandon entertained Wilton United at
a sun drenched town park in their 5th league game of the
season. Although there were some dry days later in the week under
foot conditions were soft but it was a perfect day for football. The
scene was set with a beautifully marked pitch.
The halloween celebrations were over
but but it seemed to be on the minds of players to start with and Bandon
started sluggishly immdeately coming under pressure.
Midfield were struggling to gain
possession of the ball and this led to the Bandon defence seeing a
lot of strong running from midfield by Wilton.
Although the away team had a
lot of the ball centre backs Shane O Neill and Lee Holland coped admirably with
the Wilton attack. Bandon were limited to break outs of defence and Timmy
McCarthy and Eoin O Sullivan did their utmost to set up attacks.
Fullbacks David McSweeney and Dillon Galvin did their best to stem the tide but
10 minutes before Wilton took a deservrd lead from a shot just inside the
box. 1-0 at half time
Some tactical switches and personnel
changes improved Bandons performance in the second half , David
Laffan came on for the strong running David Behan .One of
Bandon midfielders moved to left back, Timmy McCarthy moved to
midfield and this saw a marked improvement in Bandons attacking play. The
second half display was bulit on a strong defensive display and Aaron Ryan
in goal dealt very capably with the efforts on goal. As the game
progressed Bandon were spending more and more of their time in the
opposition half with Eoin Hurley and Liam
Chambers battling really well. The substituitions proved to be
important and Kevin Peterson , Brian O Connell and Eoin Nolan injected
great life into the Bandon attack .
With a minute of nomal time
remaining a strong running Brian O Connell was upended. From the
resulting free kick by Timmy McCarthy the Wilton keepers initial save
was not controlled and Eoin Nolan did some wonderful following up to
finish from close range. The game finished out with Bandon defending
bravely from a succession of Wilton corners.
This was another improved
performance on previous weeks and was a victory for perseverence, courage and a
never say die attitude.
The team was as follows
Aaron Ryan , David McSweeney,
Dillon Galvin, Shane O Neill, Lee Holland, David Behan, Eoin
O Sullivan, Liam Chambers, Bandon center midfielder, Timmy
McCarthy, Eoin Hurley,
Subs, Sam Shorten , Brian O'Connell,
Eoin Nolan, David Laffan, Kevin Petterson

BANDON 8 1 BALLINCOLLIG A
It was a wet Ballincollig
Regional park on Saturday morning but this did not matter as Bandon
recorded another win in the cup. The lunchtime kick off suited Bandon as
they started very brightly with Liam Chambers beating the Ballincollig
goalkeeper in one on one situations twice only to see his shot cleared off
the line on both occassions .
Timmy McCarthy opened the
scoring for Bandon after 15 minutes when some close control and strong
running enabled to him to finish strongly to the bottom corner.
Bandon were sharp in the tackle and
early in getting the ball forward and Eoin O Sullivan got the second and third
goals .One was a very crisp strike high to the opposition net from just
inside the box and the other was a break from midfield and persistence in
keeping the Ballincollig keeper under pressure to finish from close range.
It was not all one way traffic and
Ballincollig broke from defence late in the first half . The shot
looked to be a tame one but the ball slid under the body of keeper Aaron
Ryan, hit the post ,but he recovered greatly to smother the ball.
Three nil at half time .
Great credit must go to the entire
Bandon defence for their tough tackling and releasing their midfield and
forwards early .
David Behans strong running and
crosses were very good during this game .Kevin Petterson showed great
support play for his defence and attacking teammates.
Dillon Galvin showed great stamina
for the whole game.
The substitutes played an important
part in the performance . With more luck on another day David Laffan would
certainly have been in for a goal or two.
Eoin Hurley showed great hunger
to track back and help his defence and Brian O Connell showed some very neat
touches when on the left side of midfield.
Team: Aaron Ryan , David McSweeney ,
Bandon left Back , Shane O'Neill , Lee Holland , David Behan , Kevin
Petterson (captain) , Eoin O'Sullivan , Dillon Galvin , Timmy McCarthy , Liam

BANDON 0 4 BALLINCOLLIG
BANDON ARRIVED TO THE REGIONAL PARK ON SATURDAY MORNING WITH HIGH HOPES OF AN IMPROVED PERFORMANCE AND OVER THE HOUR IMPROVED ON THEIR LAST OUTING AGAINST SPRINGFIELD,
IT WAS A DISSAPOINTING START FOR BANDON ,AFTER ONLY 2 MINUTES A CROSS FROM THE WING WAS NOT COVERED PROPERLY BY KEEPER AARON RYAN AND BECAUSE OF THE SLIPPERY BALL IT ENDED WITH A TAP IN GOAL FOR THE BALLINCOLLIG FORWARD.
THE POOR START FOR BANDON CONTINUED AND THE TEAM WERE FACING A DIFFICULT GAME WHEN THEY WERE 3 DOWN AFTER 15 MINUTES WITH BALLINCOLLIG MIDFIELD WELL ON TOP.
SOME TACTICAL AND POSITIONAL SWITCHES PROVED TO WORK AND THE TEAM SETTLED A LITTLE BEFORE HALF TIME .
A MUCH IMPROVED DISPLAY IN THE SECOND HALF SAW MORE AGRESSION AND BATTLING FROM ALL THE TEAM AND BALLINCOLLIG WERE LIMITED TO ONE GOAL LATE ON . SOME OF THE BANDON PLAYERS SHOWED REAL PRIDE IN THE CLUB JERSEY AND CAN BE PROUD OF THEIR DISPLAYS .

NAT. CUP 1ST ROUND SEPT 8TH
BANDON 4 0 WATERGRASSHILL
The Bandon u11's played their first competitive cup fixture in the 1st round of the national cup on a blustery and wet Monday evening in Watergrasshill. Watergrasshill opened brightly and had some half chances which were not coverted which gave the Bandon team some time to settle . Once they found their feet Bandon created some good chances but were unable to convert until 10 minutes before half time a through ball from midfield was ran on to from the half way line by David Laffan and he slipped the ball under the advancing keepers reach to record their 1st goal of the season . Some real battling displays from Eoin O Sullivan and in particular Timmy McCarthy in midfiled created many other great openings and the second goal that came was a carbon copy of the first where David Laffans pace was the deciding factor when winning the race to the through ball ,again to finish neatly to corner , Bandon were 2 up at half time . Bandon again exerted their superiority in the second half where David McSweeney and Dillon Galvin were tough tackling defenders against some strong running Watergrasshill wingers . The third was a slightly lucky one where the defender rushing back to clear his lines deflected the ball into his own net after a Bandon cross. Bandon were relentless with thier pressure and David Laffan finished the game with a hattrick after a super lob of the keeper. Midway through the second half Watergrasshill were given a great opportunity to score after being awarded a penalty but an outstanding save from Aaron Ryan capped another fine display in goal to keep the score sheet clean . The scond half display was an improvement on the 1st with Kevin Petterson and Lee Holland very solid in defence. A hard working and running Eoin Nolan and Liam Chambers who battled for every ball were replaced by Sam Shorten who showed some lovely touches and David Behan who's strong running with the ball kept the Watergrasshill defence on thier toes. Eoin Hurley played some good passing football and kept the chances flowing for his attackers right to the end and final whistle recorded Bandon U11's 1st competitive win of the season.
